Here is why the ejector is so crucial. The ejector is a spring-loaded plunger attached to the bolt face. During a firing sequence, the ejector applies pressure to the spent cartridge forcing it out of the ejector port. If the ejector fails, the spent shell won't be ejected and you end up with a jammed rifle. If your ejector isn't working, you'll probably be forced to remove the spent cartridge manually. Not a pleasant shooting experience by any means, so pick up several of these FN America ejectors and have them on hand when it comes time to service your rifle.
